Hello,
Between February 10, 2011 and February 18, 2011, I will face the
challenge of climbing Mt. Kilimandjaro in Tanzania. I will
accomplish this feat in order to support my friend Marie-Claude
Lemieux and her every day struggles. Marie-Claude suffers from
Locked-in syndrome which was caused by a stroke that occurred on
February 16, 2010.
The syndrome causes a lock paralysis making almost any movement
impossible with the exception of blinking eyelids. Another
symptom is the inability to speak, so the need to communicate
with a code based on the eyes' movement is essential since my
friend's consciousness and intellectual faculties are fully
intact.
